My 1st Staycation: Tips on How to Have a Fulfilling Vacation at Home!!!

Vacation “Staycation”, all I ever wanted! Staycation, had to get away (well not literally, lol)!!!  For those of you that don’t know what a “Staycation” is it is basically a vacation where you stay local and do activities that are near to you rather than going away!!! This year I decided to do just that and I could not be happier.

Prior to my Staycation, I am not going to lie I was pretty bummed that I wasn’t going to get my yearly dose of wanderlust. Traveling is something that I love to do and I try to get away at least once a year. However, this year it wasn’t in the cards for me. I had a full week off from work ahead of me with no plans and then it dawned on me that I don’t need to go on a big trip or spend tons of money to have fun.  So for a full week I lived it big right from my own backyard, New York City (& New Jersey)!!!

Took a Mini Trip To Atlantic City…
I kicked start my week of freedom by taking a spontaneous trip to Atlantic City, to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The beauty of have a whole week to yourself with no schedules means that you can pick up and just go!!! Now AC isn’t exactly that near to me, it’s about 3 hours from me by car, so it gave me that feeling that I went somewhere far without all of the pressure.

I had an amazing time celebrating with my friends at the Tropicana.
When had good laughs, good food and most importantly lots of fun!!!

Did Someone Say Spa Day?
Self-care and relaxation were major things that I was seeking during my time off. Although I was resting a lot at home, sometimes you just need to pull yourself out of your own environment to get a little added rest and recuperation!! So I decide to spend the day at The Spa Castle Premier, right in the heart of the city, I didn’t have to travel far to zen out!! This place was amazing, I went on a Wednesday so the facility was not overcrowded, also no kids are allowed at this location. I spent the whole day in complete bliss, lounging around, going into all of the different massage therapy pools, Jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms. I even took a nap in the mediation room, it was lovely. I left feeling rejuvenated and without a care in the world.

The Met Cloisters
I have been wanted to go to The Cloisters for years, however living in New York can get hectic and quite often doing something like going to a museum gets pushed to the back burner. Just the trip alone up to Washington Heights was a treat in itself, Fort Tryon Park was absolutely beautiful, the weather was perfect and fall foliage was just starting to come in a bit. I seriously did not even feel like I was in New York City.

The Scenery was Magnificent!!!

The Cloisters was also breathtaking, I felt like I traveled back in time for the day. The medieval art, architecture and gardens were stunning. I enjoyed spending the day emerging myself into everything The Cloisters had to offer, I stayed until closing and I can’t wait to go again!!!

I just loved the architecture here!!!

Things To Keep in Mind…
1.     Be spontaneous, I literally planned activities a day or two ahead of time.

2.     It’s your “vacation”, try not to get caught up in everyday duties, act as if you are away,
so if you don’t feel like cooking dinner treat yourself and dine out!!!

3.     Try new things, don’t stick to routine, do something that you have been wishing to do but
never had time for!!!

4.     Have fun and enjoy J
