Farewell 2016, Hello 2017!!!

Saying goodbye to people, places, experiences or even a year is always hard, especially when we grow into routines of the day to day. But with the start of a new year taking the time out to reflect on some of the highlights and lowlights of the year is an essential way to start fresh.

Accomplishments …
Personal Growth: This year I learned a lot about myself and what makes “ME” happy. I stopped trying to do things that pleased others and focused on what I enjoy most. Often we tend to put others first and put our dreams to the back burner but I learned that I can balance my goals and still maintain healthy relationships with others without taking away from things that I like doing. When I was able to do this I got a better understanding of what I truly want out of life.

Educational Growth: As a grad student, working full time, I struggle day to day to make time for self care, family, a social life and television(lol); all while maintaining good grades. But I can proudly say that I am doing it and getting it done. Being a student requires a lot of sacrifices but one thing that I learned is to not sacrifice is my “Happiness”. Finding a balance to make time for my educational goals is not only important to me now but it is important to my future self because it is laying down a foundation for me for a better future.

Blogging: This year I finally started my blog and I could not be any happier with it. Blogging has been something that I have wanted to do for years now but I always held myself back from pursuing it. I use to think that in order to be a blogger you would need a lot money, clothes, friends, etc. However, I find it to be the exact opposite, blogging is so much more. Since I have started this journey I found out that all you truly need is inspiration. What I love most about blogging is that it inspires me to be creative and I can only hope that the content that I create will inspire others too.

Goals for 2017 …
Without putting to much pressure on the future, a few goals that I would like to accomplish are…

-        Continue my personal and educational growth.
-        Nurture my adventurous side and travel more.
-        Exercise and focus more on healthy lifestyle habits.
