A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend my 3rd
Curvy Con and as a veteran I knew I was in for a treat. This years Curvy Con
was everything I needed and more to inspire and motivate me for the upcoming
fall and winter months. Happening during New York Fashion Week this years Curvy
Con was not only groundbreaking it was legendary for the plus size community and
an experience that I will never forget.
Day 1:
Curvy Girl Fitness Session…
We kicked started the Curvy Con with a curvy workout sponsored
by Target and instructed by Massy Arias. Massy lead us into a workout utilizing
resistance bands, the workout was plus friendly but vigorous enough to feel a
difference. More importantly this workout can be done anywhere, no fancy gym
membership required!!!
Following the workout, we were each given a fitness gym swag
bag filled with socks, a set of resistance bands and a sports bra from Target’s
fitness line Champion C9 which now
offers plus sizes. Also they had a fresh juice bar set up for us with a choice of
mint or cucumber water in cute target water bottles.
These portable chargers were lifesavers!!!
So happy to meet Chastity of Garner Style again.
As well as Cece of Cece Olisa.
With my friend Mirtha.
Shop & Sip + Curvy Fashion Runway
Show…
Later that evening I headed back to enjoy some shopping and
a few bevies while I eagerly awaited attending my 1st official
fashion show. I was pleased to see some fresh new clothing lines available for
me to browse like Molly & Isadora, Curvy Kate and Premme to name a few.
Afterwards, the long awaited runway show presented by Dia
& Co began. During the runway show I felt like I was apart of something
really special, I got to see visibly plus models strut their stuff while seeing
the latest fashions for the fall and winter during New York Fashion Week!!!! So
while other fashion events were going on all over the city, I was at one to
unique to my body type and that felt amazing!
Outfit of the Day…
Torrid has been one of my all time favorite plus size
retailers since I was 13/14 years old so I decided that I would pay homage to
the brand by wearing head to toe Torrid for my 1st ever New York
Fashion Week event.
Unfortunately, this
look is no longer available online except for the Choker. However, you might still be able to find some of these pieces
in store.
Day 2:
Panels…
Getting to the 2nd day of the Curvy Con was
difficult to say the least because I got stuck in traffic and I missed a good
portion of the panels. Fortunately, this year the Curvy Con was live streamed
through Yahoo Lifestyle, and I was able to catch up with what I missed, click Here if you want to check it out too.
As always the panels delivered many positive messages which I thoroughly
enjoyed.
Lunch N Learn…
Following we all enjoy a boxed lunch from Zaro’s, it was
delish and I had fun chatting with the other ladies at the table I was at. Each
lunch came with a raffle ticket for a chance at winning a Lane Bryant gift card
during the Lane Bryant Lunch N Learn which was very exciting. We got to speak
with LB representatives as well as get sneak peeks of their new holiday looks.
Finally got to meet Rochelle of Beauticurve.
Was super happy to see plus male representation this year and loved meeting Troy of abearnamedtroy.
Shopping…
My favorite purchase were two pair of jeans that I got from
the new Molly & Isadora line, I purchased both pairs in size 26 and they
fit perfect! They are just the right length for me and they feel like butter
against my skin. Also they had free embroidering with a purchase of their jeans
so I simply could not help myself. Their new fall line just launched so check
them out Here if you are interested,
they range up to size 32. I purchased a pair in classic blue and the other in
this beautiful rust red color, it is so Gorg!
The Keynote…
Oh my goodness, you guys the keynote speaker this year was
Chrissy Metz from This Is Us!!! It was such a treat to be in the same space as
her and to hear her speak. Not only am I obsessed with the show but I
absolutely adore Chrissy. Chrissy was so funny and entertaining I could not
stop laughing. The message that she delivered was so inspiring that I felt like
getting out of my seat and instantly running towards fulfilling all of my
dreams. Afterwards, we each had an opportunity to meet her and take a selfie
with her, I was definitely smiling ear to ear.
The After Party…
This year we wrapped up with a closing party at the Hudson
Terrance, I didn’t get a chance to get any pictures because I was way to busy
dancing and partying it up. This was definitely one of my favorite events from
the whole experience. It was so exciting to see all the ladies and some fellas
enjoying themselves without any judgments.
Overall, the whole experience was amazing and I simply
cannot wait for next years’ event. This is truly one of the best events that
you can attend and I look forward to this event every year.
Outfit of the Day…
For Day 2, I went with a combination outfit from both Lane
Bryant and Ashley Stewart. Both retailers have also been constants in my
fashion life since my teen years and they have really evolved as well over the
years.
